Adena is a dedicated legal and public policy professional and has served in various non-profit and public sector settings. Adena has deep knowledge of legal and political systems and spends her days helping set policy and monitoring and analyzing regulations and legislation. Adena has led advocacy campaigns and organized legislative activities, facilitated legal resource development and established crisis communication plans for organizations. Adena has also developed new or revamped community and economic development programs and informed four federal housing initiatives (including rapid rehousing, eviction prevention, acquisition and owner-occupied rehabilitation, and housing affordability) in her roles with Legal Aid of Los Angeles, Atlanta Development Authority, and the City of Detroit. Adena has received formal training in lobbying and advocacy campaign development, developed policy training curriculum and policy content for webinars, newsletters and fact sheets, prepared delegations to visit elected officials, met with elected officials to discuss legislative priorities, and presented to legislative committees via oral and written communications. Adena has also served as Staff Liaison for Standing Board Committees (government and philanthropic) and as a member various national and local committees and coalitions. Adena holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Spelman College, a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California and a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School- Los Angeles.
