Senior Program Manager, Common Threads
Albert Garcia is the Senior Program Manager for Common Threads. He manages nutrition and cooking education enrichment programs for children and families in Pittsburgh. This role requires building community partners in under resourced communities and maintaining strong government relations. Previously, Albert was the Head Wellness Guru for the City of Pittsburgh in the Department of Human Resources. He developed and managed the CityFit Wellness Program for city employees and families. In addition, Albert is a Personal Trainer at Pivot Physical Therapy and he’s been there since 2014. Albert is from York, PA and moved to Pittsburgh, PA to attend the University of Pittsburgh for his MS in Wellness and Human Performance. He looked to become more involved with the Latinx community, so he joined the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Association of Latino Professionals For America. In both organizations, he helped to create mentoring programs for university students and youth professionals. In Albert’s free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Desiree, and his two dogs, Bruce and Bailey. He also plays in multiple recreational basketball leagues and frequently goes to the gym. His favorite hobby is trying new restaurants with his wife and enjoying diverse cuisine.
