Senior Pastor, St. John Missionary Baptist Church
Art Gordon, Reverend, is the Senior Pastor of the St. John Missionary Baptist Church in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston. As Pastor, he oversees all functions of the church and has been instrumental in implementing community programs and a community scholarship. As a faith leader in Boston, Rev. Gordon has helped to lead marches and protest in pursuit of social justice. Rev. Gordon also served on the historic Ed Markey for U.S. Senate Campaign as a Finance Associate and Field Organizer. In 2018, he received he prestigious FASPE Ethics Fellowship where he traveled to Germany and Poland to study Ethical Leadership in the context of Nazi-occupied Europe. In addition, he is a Co-Founder of SustainedBoston, an effort to feed families affected by the 2019 Government shutdown. Rev. Gordon is a graduate of Savannah State University, and Boston University School of Theology where he received the Donald Wells Preaching Prize. He was inducted into the Student Honor Society and received the Master of Divinity Degree. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity where he received the Royal Bolling Sr. Community Service Award, Brother of the Year Award, and serves as the Vice President of the Boston Graduate Chapter. He serves on the Board of Brookview House, Action for Boston Community Development, Project Hope, and the Attorney Generals Racial Justice and Equity Council.
