Britney Smith was born and raised in the historic southern town of Selma, Alabama. For college she relocated, to Tallahassee to attend Florida A&M University (FAMU) and obtained her M.B.A. with a concentration in Marketing. As a marketing and communications professional with more than ten years of experience, Britney currently serves as the Assistant Director for Publications and events for her alma mater. In this capacity, she oversees the planning and execution of strategic events, major publications and campaigns. Prior to working at FAMU, Britney served as the Public Information and Communications Manager with Leon County. Her background includes developing award-winning public information campaigns during Hurricanes Hermine, Irma, and Michael. Britney was recently chosen as the Tallahassee Network of Young Professionals Golden A.C.E. (Authentic Community Engagement) winner for the Top 20 under 40 and was recognized by the Tallahassee Democrats as one of the 25 Women You Need to Know in 2020. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering and visiting museums. Her volunteer experience includes organizations such as the Jayda Dionne Parker Scholarship Foundation, Junior Achievement of the Big Bend and Ladies Learning to Lead. Professional memberships include the American Marketing Association and the Florida Public Relations Association (membership director 2019-2020).
