Executive Director, Esperanza Immigration Legal Services
Camille Van Kote has been the Executive Director of Esperanza Immigration Legal Services since September 2019. In this role, Camille manages a small and mighty team that provides legal services, advocacy and education to low-income immigrant communities and their families, a mission closely related to Esperanza’s work in Northeast Philadelphia. Previously, Camille attended Barnard College and the University of Houston Law Center. Upon graduation, Camille was selected as an Equal Justice Works Fellow with Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. She began her legal career providing trauma informed legal services to immigrant survivors of crime. Camille has dedicated much of her professional and academic career to serving immigrant communities and advancing social justice issues. From creating small fundraisers in college, to working on immigration pro bono cases as a paralegal, to leading a reproductive justice club during law school, and now providing immigration legal services, Camille wants to continue creating opportunities for everyone to have a chance to participate in our democratic society and make the change they wish to see in our world. Camille is a recent transfer to Philadelphia, after living in Lyon, France, New York and Houston. She is passionate about Leslie Knope, cinema, dance and good cheese, for all to enjoy.
