Carol Gonzalez

Carol, the daughter of immigrants and a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, uses her voice to bring attention to issues that threaten social justice in and out of the educational systems. Her passion for politics formed at a young age. Since 2005, she has been participating in marches and protests for immigration reform. In high school, she pushed her leadership abilities and became the first student to be elected for two terms as student body president. Then she brought her passion and leadership to Sacramento. Gonzalez holds a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Sacramento. Where she majored in Political Science, and Communication Studies. She is inspired to further advance her knowledge of policy and hopes to seek a Master of Public Administration at McGeorge School of Law. Currently, Gonzalez is a registered lobbyist with the Strategic Education Services (SES). This lobbying and consulting firm represents K-12 school districts, community colleges, and other educational organizations. She also assists with clients including the Education Coalition and the Bill Melinda Gates Foundation. Gonzalez also volunteers as a program coordinator for Advancing Latinas, a nonprofit organization. There, she creates and implements programs that mentors high school Latinas to increase their success after high school. She also serves as the External Vice President for Generation Z Consulting LLC, an organization that highlights three pillars: equity, equality, and inclusion. Additionally, she holds leadership positions with the California Young Democrats and College Democrats of America. Before joining SES, Gonzalez worked as an intern at Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California. At Planned Parenthood, she helped advance and track women’s health policy. Prior to that, she worked as Bera’s Deputy Field Organizer. She canvassed neighborhoods, recruited interns, and held phone banks for his re-election campaign. She also spent time in Washington D.C assisting a political action committee, BOLD PAC, as a summer intern. Additionally, she worked as a file clerk at a law firm for two years where she would upkeep ligation cases for attorneys. She also worked at the Secretary of State’s office in the Elections Division where she worked on voter outreach and assistance, while simultaneously working with the Associated Student Incorporated, at CSUS, as a student services representative. In her spare time, she likes to take walks with her dog Princess and watch the sunset. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
