As an entrepreneur of over a decade, Devon developed curriculum for, taught at, and ran all aspects of her own small business, an early learning and play center, with locations in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She was a member of the inaugural class of the Entrepreneurship Pioneers Initiative out of the Center for Urban Entrepreneurship & Economic Development at Rutgers Business School. Devon worked as the Children's Program Coordinator for the Swarthmore Public Library - where her passions for reading, writing, children and family programming, and literacy intersected - and as the Education Director for a regional theatre, before finding her way back into the Public Library System, this time in Philadelphia. She leads frequent Professional Development training on Early Childhood Literacy and Language Development for Early Childhood educators, and presents at Early Childhood Conferences. With a lifelong interest in conflict resolution, she studied Nonviolent Conflict and Change at Syracuse University in undergrad, led Children’s Yoga Teacher Training throughout the country, earned a certification in Mediation, acted as a chapter leader for the global nonprofit organization Kids for Peace, and still currently teaches yoga to children ages 2-8 years. Devon loves to travel, write fiction, read, meditate, explore Philly's vibrant theater offerings, and eat her way through the city. She serves on the NLC Philadelphia Board.
