Emma Yourd
Grants Project Manager, The Forbes Funds
Emma Yourd is a project and proposal management professional who has worked with local stakeholders, policymakers, academics, and nonprofit leaders on community-driven solutions in Jordan, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, and Egypt. She recently returned to her hometown of Pittsburgh to transition into a career of local public service and leadership, earning an MPA in Urban Affairs and Planning at the University of Pittsburgh. While in graduate school, Emma received the ICMA Local Government Early Career Service award and was inducted into Pi Alpha Alpha, the Global Honor Society for Public Affairs and Administration. In her current role as Grants Project Manager for The Forbes Funds, Emma manages grant-making and capacity building projects for nonprofits across Allegheny County. She also leads fundraising efforts and grant applications, seeking funding opportunities from both local and national foundations. This position combines her project and proposal management skills with her passion for ensuring equitable and sustainable economic development in the greater Pittsburgh region. Emma comes to the Forbes Funds having spent six years in Washington, D.C. working for federal contractors and grantees, where she managed eight-figure project portfolios and proposal efforts. She also served on the boards of the Smith College Club of Washington, and two volunteer-led nonprofit boards dedicated to raising awareness in young people about Alzheimer’s. She previously earned a BA in Economics from Smith College. In her spare time, Emma enjoys a return to competitive long distance running, after a graduate school-imposed hiatus, as well as hiking with her German Shepherd.
