Hattie Griggs
Maternal and Child Health Program Coordinator, Wisconsin Women's Health Foundation
Hattie Griggs is a licensed Advanced Practice Social Worker with over ten years of direct service experience who currently works as a Maternal and Child Health Program Coordinator with the Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation. Within this agency, she has transitioned from a part time health educator, to full time, to program coordinator and will be recommended to become supervisor of the program, which she currently coordinates. While assuming this role, she coordinates a community home visiting program that assists pregnant and post-partum women with smoking cessation. Tasks include, but are not limited to, policy implementation, program improvement, meeting facilitation, staff oversight and team development. This work is fulfilling and allows her to continue to focus on her public health passion of decreasing health disparities as it relates to birth outcomes and advancing healthy birth outcomes for women of color. Hattie Griggs is a proud alumna of The University of Wisconsin-Madison where she has earned a Bachelor of Social Work and Sociology, Certificate in Criminal Justice, Master of Social Work and a Capstone Certificate in Infant, Children and Family Mental Health. She also holds a Substance Use and Pregnancy Certificate from The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Hattie Griggs resides in Milwaukee, WI where she enjoys exploring different walking/biking trails, reading literature from the Harlem Renaissance Era (Zora Neale Hurston and Langston Hughes), watching movies (Denzel Washington), spending time with family and friends, exercising and cooking/eating new food dishes.
