Founder, Fusion Fitness by Jelyse
Jelyse Dawson is a young professional leading the way in global marketing, wellness, entrepreneurship, and youth advocacy. She began her career at John Deere where she held roles in Tactical Marketing, Product Marketing, and College Recruiting, where she closed minority and female employment disparities by partnering with 40 universities and 8 national student organizations. As a result of deadlines and heavy travel schedules, she began to notice how stress negatively impacted her department. She started teaching fitness to co-workers over the lunch hour and launched the John Deere Employee Yoga Program. In 2014 she took a bold step and left corporate America, created Fusion Fitness by Jelyse, and traveled the state empowering employees, medical patients, active adults, and youth to stress less and move more. This led to earning an MBA at NC State University, where she pitched her employee wellness product around the country, created marketing campaigns for Burt’s Bees, and spearheaded a cross-functional team to design a medical device to keep girls in school throughout Africa, South America, and Asia. Upon graduation, she served as a Global Communications Manager for Cisco Systems tracking consumer data across 11 countries to impact strategy. This opened the door to become an Employee Engagement Manager where she facilitated focus groups in 5 countries to enhance culture and collaboration. Dawson’s passion for young people is evident in her work with her family’s non-profit organization, Train Them Up for Success. To support youth impacted by COVID, she co-directed the Girls Fit to Soar Camp exposing girls across the country to careers, college prep, and fitness. Today, Jelyse owns a virtual wellness studio and manages a team of diverse instructors bringing mental and physical well-being to underserved populations.
