Officer, Economic Prosperity Community, MIT Solve
Joel Jaquez is the Officer, Economic Prosperity Community at Solve. In this role, he engages leaders from the private, public, non-profit, and academic sectors to identify and support solutions to economic prosperity challenges in cities and regions worldwide. Before joining Solve, Joel served as the Manager of External Relations and Partnerships for the Learning by Giving Foundation, a private family foundation founded by philanthropist Doris Buffett. Previously, Joel held positions at the United Way of Massachusetts Bay, GBH Educational Foundation, Massachusetts Nonprofit Network, the United States Attorney’s Office, and the Mauricio Gaston Institute for Latino Community Development and Public Policy. Joel is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers Community, serves as a Co-Chair for Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy (EPIP) Boston, served on the Massachusetts Nonprofit Excellence Awards Judging Committee, and served on the Board of Directors for Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN) Boston. Joel holds a BA in Political Science and Psychology from the University of Massachusetts-Boston, and a certificate in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from Tufts University in affiliation with the Institute of Nonprofit Practice. In his spare time Joel likes to read new books, cook, and travel abroad.
