Jose Gamboa was born in Caracas, Venezuela. As a young man, he always showed passion for helping others in his community and a great interest in politics and social issues. After graduating high school, he attended Universidad Central de Venezuela as a Political Science major and played an active role in the university's political life as a member of the student movement.
In 2014 he joined the Venezuelan political party Voluntad Popular with hopes of contributing with the reconstruction of democracy in Venezuela and becoming a public servant to help his community. As a member of Voluntad Popular, he served as a regional contact for Pro Inclusion, the wing of the party focused on LGBT rights and as Young Voter Outreach Coordinator for the congressional campaign of now interim president Juan Guaido.
Jose has now been living in the United States for the past three years after the political crisis forced him out of his country. He now works for Synchrony as an Account Manager where he not only helps customers in dire financial conditions but also contributes through community service and diversity networks. Jose is a founding member and president of the Central Florida chapter of JOVENEX an organization of young Venezuelans that looks to raise concern about the issues that their community is affected by in their day-to-day basis as a new immigrant community. Jose is also pursuing a bachelor's degree in political science and hopes to become more involved with social and political activism.
