Kendrick Vela is a Senior Account Executive at KGBTexas Communications, where he provides strategic support for public and private clients in the areas of public relations, public affairs and advertising. Before returning to San Antonio, the native Texan worked as the Head of Politics, Press and Public Affairs for the British Consulate-General Houston, where he led all public engagement and communications efforts alongside Her Majesty’s Consul General in New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas on behalf of the UK government. Kendrick previously served as a legislative assistant in the Office of Congressman Gene Green in Washington, D.C., where he advised on all education and foreign policy efforts. During that time, Kendrick also briefly served as a community liaison in Houston, where he supported community outreach to underserved, minority communities. Kendrick earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s University with a double major in political science and international relations. He also obtained a master’s degree from The American University’s School of International Service in international affairs with a focus on U.S. foreign policy toward the Middle East and North Africa. Kendrick likes to spend his spare time reading the latest political nonfiction books and listening to old vinyl records. He is proud to serve on the board of directors for Guide Dogs of Texas, which is a locally based nonprofit dedicated to helping the blind by increasing their freedom, mobility and independence.
