Krystal Lattany is a Senior Aide with the Office of Senator Debbie Stabenow, where she oversees and executes the Senator’s daily operations and logistics, serving as liaison between the Senator and senior staff and communications team to ensure seamless communication. She previously served as a Legislative Aide on environmental, energy and Great Lakes issues, offering policy support to advance the interests of Michiganders. Krystal was introduced to Capitol Hill as a 2011 summer Congressional Black Caucus Intern, which solidified her interest in politics and community activism. She is a 2011 graduate of the University of Michigan’s Political Science Department. Krystal served as the 2015-2016 president of the Senate Black Legislative Staff Caucus, a congressional staff organization. She founded the organization’s mentorship program, which paired junior and senior staff to build professional relationships to advance their careers on Capitol Hill. She most recently served as the 2019 Professional Development Chair, hosting events to better prepare Black staff for interviews, legislative responsibilities, and intra-office relationships. Krystal is a voracious reader of all genres, and has read 37 books so far this year. Her favorite authors are Maya Angelou, Isabel Wilkerson, and Jasmine Guillory. She is also an active member of the Prince George’s Church of Christ, and a proud pet owner of her cat Ross.
