Client Services Coordinator, Jewish Vocational Services (JVS) - San Francisco
Laura Combs is currently a Client Services Coordinator with JVS in San Francisco. In this role, she supports both staff and clients in feeling empowered to connect with resources all around the Bay Area. Laura volunteers with Empower Work to support texters who are experiencing difficult work situations. She also attends courses on Diversity and Government at City College of San Francisco. Prior to JVS, Laura worked with Hamilton Families as a Housing Stability Coordinator and supervised six staff members who supported families in their rapid rehousing program. Laura also oversaw the program implementation of Social Workers in the Library in Oakland, was an Outreach Intern with Alameda County Health Advocates at Highland and Fairmont Hospitals and supported parolees at San Quentin Prison in their California Re-Entry Program. A first-generation college student and 2015 research psychology graduate of Mills College, Laura is passionate about using data to make informed decisions to further her support for staff and clients. While in college, Laura served as the lead research assistant in the Health and Psychology Research Laboratory and presented her research at two national conferences. Laura moved to the Bay Area in 2011 and never left. She lived in East Bay for many years and currently resides in San Francisco. She is interested in local politics and her cats.
