Maxine Rebeles
Middle School Teacher, Christen Middle
Maxine Rebeles was born in Chicago, but raised in Laredo, TX. She joined the Navy in 2002 after high school and served her country for six years as an Information Technician Third Class. She received the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal and Navy Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication with a concentration in Web Design and Development from American InterContinental University - Schaumburg, IL. She is a writing teacher at Christen Middle School. She became a teacher to help encourage, inspire, protect and propel the youth of not only her beloved neighborhood, the Canta Ranas, but in all her community. She is a member of the No Border Wall Coalition and Vets United to Stop the Wall. She has helped organize various events to help protect Laredo from the border wall. She also volunteers with a public art group for RGISC, a nonprofit pro environmental group in Laredo, TX. She has two children: Jordyn who is 16 and enjoys taking pictures of nature, and Benicio who is 11 and enjoys playing with cars and dirt. They are the reason she works so hard to make her community a better place to live.
