Meaghan Diffenderfer (she/her) is a graduate of Saint Michael's College where she studied Political Science and Music. Many of her studies focused on public health and community organizing, with a particular focus on HIV/AIDS advocacy. At Saint Michael's, Meaghan served on the Student Association Executive board for two years, and was the ad-hoc chair for the Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Although still in the process of unlearning many systemic ideas, Meaghan tries to create a lense on her work of inclusion and representation, specifically around race and gender. She sells her labor to City Market/ Onion River Co-op, where she is an active member of the shop's union- United Electrical, Radio, and Machine Workers of America, Local 203. She is a shop Steward and current Vice President, and was a delegate to the UE National Convention in August, 2019. She was also elected to represent her fellow employees as a member of the Bargaining Team this summer during contract negotiations, helping secure a raise and safer working conditions for all employees. She is a founding member of the newly formed Vermont Labor Climate Committee, whose mission is to help create and pass a Green New Deal that works to benefit all working class individuals, particularly those communities most impacted by climate change and workers who will be displaced by the transition away from fossil fuels. In her spare time, Meaghan finds great joy in baking and singing, occasionally appearing on stage around Burlington.
