Metty Fisseha is a proud Ethiopian-American based in Washington, D.C. She works as a Senior Manager of Product Management in the Conversational A.I. group at Capital One, where she leads a team that leverages A.I. to build Intelligent Support Experiences for customers. Ms. Fisseha also contributes to the Fairness in A.I. Initiative, which is geared toward removing bias in the field of A.I. and making smart financial assistance accessible to all.
Before relocating to D.C. to work for Capital One, Ms. Fisseha lived in Seattle, WA for 3 years where she worked for Amazon. Most recently she was a Senior Product Marketing Manager working on the Alexa Skills Kit, where she led the voice-based monetization effort. During her tenure with Alexa, Ms. Fisseha oversaw the adoption of voice monetization in the US and international expansion to the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Germany and Japan.
Prior to her career in tech Ms. Fisseha worked on Wall Street, most recently at Goldman Sachs where she worked in Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS) Sales & Trading. It was at Goldman that Ms. Fisseha had a chance to work on early stage technology-forward initiatives which compelled her to pivot full-time to the tech space. It is also at Goldman through her work with the 10,000 Women initiative that she saw first hand the disparities that exist in access to capital and financial wellbeing. Ms. Fisseha is passionate about leveraging emerging technology to help close the gap between people from underserved communities and the rest of the developed world, and to ensure that their voices are heard and considered when building the digital products of tomorrow.
Ms. Fisseha was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and grew up between Washington, D.C. and London, UK. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from Duke University and a certificate in A.I. for Business from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. She is fluent in Amharic and proficient in Spanish. In her free time, Ms. Fisseha can be found doing yoga, hiking or hanging out with her parents (who live in Maryland), her brother in New York City and/or her ewok-resembling dog named Ted.
