Michael Fittro
Senior Field Organizer, For Our Future FL
Michael Fittro is a Senior Field Organizer with For Our Future Action Fund, where he leads grassroots efforts to mobilize progressive voters and advocates for progressive policies that benefit working-class, everyday Americans. He previously worked for the same organization as a Voter Contact Organizer, educating and mobilizing voters while uplifting the voices of affected communities. Michael also worked as an Administrative Assistant in New York City, where he expanded the network of various medical practices and other institutions connected with the Canavan Foundation. In that capacity, he was able to further the education of affected populations about genetic diseases and the proper reproductive healthcare needed to prevent transmission and encourage educated reproductive decisions. He also served as a volunteer at the New Sanctuary Coalition's Asylum Clinic located in his synagogue, Congregation Beit Simchat Torah (CBST), where he worked to protect asylum seekers and refugees primarily of LGBTQ+ status. For nearly three years, Michael led field operations for various state and local government campaigns, previously having volunteer canvassed to elect Hillary Clinton and former President Barack Obama. Before entering campaign work, he interned at the Florida House of Representatives. He utilized his knowledge to advocate in Tallahassee for consumer protections. Michael Fittro is a Pinellas County native and graduate of Osceola Fundamental High School. Being an LGBTQ+ conversion therapy survivor, he shared his story with the Tampa City Council and worked with a local coalition to get the practice unanimously banned in 2017. He loves Madonna and Shirley Manson. He loves to play the bass clarinet, is a vocalist, and a trained dancer. As the first in his family to go to college, he is studying Public Policy and Administration at St. Petersburg College and is graduating by Winter 2021.
