Michael R. Galvan is the Coalition Director for the YouthBuild Pennsylvania Coalition, and has spent his career dedicated to community outreach, advocacy, and education. Prior to his time with the YouthBuild Pennsylvania Coalition, Michael worked as an educator and guest lecturer for high school and collegiate courses focusing on American Government, Foreign Policy, Constitutional Law, and Education Policy at institutions across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. In addition, Michael served as a grassroots organizer for Wendy Davis’s campaign for Governor of Texas, the New Jersey Public Interest Research Group, and Jim Kenney’s campaign for Mayor of Philadelphia. Additionally, Michael has served as the Deputy Policy Director for the Jim Kenney for Mayor campaign in Philadelphia and worked as the Policy Director for the Mayor’s Office of Education for Mayor Jim Kenney.
While working for the Kenney Administration, Michael helped secure funding for the Administration’s signature initiatives, expanded quality pre-K and Community Schools. He also worked in partnership with the Department of Commerce and the School District of Philadelphia to expand Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities for high school students. Further, Michael worked with the Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN) to provide strategies to increase high school graduation rates in Philadelphia. Most recently, Michael worked for the Warren for President Campaign as the Regional Special Projects Director in Waterloo, Iowa, where he supported the day-to-day management of field organizers and interns as they organized for the Iowa Caucus.
Michael originally hails from Frisco,Texas and is an alum of the University of North Texas, where he received his master’s degree in Political Science. He currently lives with his husband, two cats, and his corgi in Germantown.
