Founder, Wonderfully Made USA
Misti Mitchell moved to Omaha from her home state of Arkansas five years ago with her daughter, who is on the autism spectrum. An advocate for her daughter since the age of 3 years old, Misti is committed to uplifting her daughter outside of the parameters doctors placed on her at the time of her diagnosis. Since being in Omaha, Misti has met many mothers with special needs children and found joy in encouraging new perspectives through sharing her own experiences with her daughter. In September 2019, Misti launched Wonderfully Made USA, a nonprofit organization empowering girls of color with special needs who face oppressive barriers within their identity, being of color, female and special needs. Misti believes special needs girls who face these challenges have the ability to impact their homes, schools and community in positive ways, and is working to grow Wonderfully Made USA into a nationwide movement. Misti graduated from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas with a bachelor's degree in Marketing and Management. She has over 10 years of nonprofit experiences and realizes the impact of knowing her daily work is benefiting others. Misti is on the Munroe-Meyer Institute's Diversity and Inclusion Executive Committee, is the Empowerment Chair for Educators for Black Lives and recently accepted a board position, which will officially be announced later this year.
