Molly Brown
Executive Assistant, South Florida Water Management District
Molly Brown was born and raised in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. After graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University, Molly moved back home to South Florida to try and find a job – any job – during an economic downturn. As luck would have it, she stumbled into an entry-level position at a luxury resort. Connecting with others and being of service is a gift that comes naturally to Molly and her career in hospitality soon blossomed. As a Concierge, Molly conducted “field research” activities like snorkeling, boat cruises, airboat tours and hiking in the Everglades, to provide experience-based recommendations to better serve her guests. Seeing beautiful Florida through the eyes of a tourist was inspiring to Molly and she began to develop a love and appreciation for her home state like she never had before. As she spent more time outdoors, Molly’s love for nature and desire to protect the environment grew, as did her concerns about climate change. When Molly became an Executive Assistant, she spearheaded the resort’s sustainability initiative, started the Green Team, and played a key role in the team’s success in becoming the first resort in Palm Beach County to receive 4 Green Keys from Green Key Global. In October 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Molly decided to change her career path to one that better reflects her personal values and passion for environmental conservation by accepting a position as Executive Assistant for the South Florida Water Management District. Instead of serving guests, she is now serving the people of South Florida and playing a role in protecting and restoring the Everglades. Although she has left the world of luxury hospitality behind, she will always carry with her an unyielding commitment to excellence and a passion for service. Molly is happily married to her soul mate, Emmanuel Tassy, and resides in Lake Worth Beach. She is blessed with a loving and supportive circle of family and friends. Molly is most happy when she is on a thrilling adventure, like swimming with sharks or backpacking in the backcountry.
