Nicolas D. Franco is an aspiring trial attorney. He currently practices with King & Spalding’s Trial and Global Disputes group, where he advises companies navigating high stakes commercial disputes. Prior to joining King & Spalding, Nico clerked for the Honorable Gonzalo P. Curiel in the Southern District of California. Nico also practiced as a public defender in New York City, where he developed a passion for criminal justice. Nico hopes to build on that passion through an active pro bono practice defending Angelenos in court and through his engagement with the broader legal community.
Nico began his career in the law at New York University School of Law where he served as a Derrick Bell Scholar for Public Service, Co-President of NYU’s Latinx Law Students Association, and student fellow with the Center for Race, Inequality, and the Law. While at NYU, Nico worked for several public defender offices, at the ACLU, and with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division. Nico remains involved with NYU’s alumni community as a Member of the Board of the Law Alumni of Color Association, where he advocates for diversity and inclusion efforts at NYU and within the legal profession.
Prior to law school, Nico worked as a management consultant with Deloitte in Los Angeles, where Nico assisted companies across various industries find new growth opportunities. Nico took an active leadership role in fundraising for United Way and its many LA-based programs and partners. Nico joined Deloitte after obtaining his undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago. Originally from Bogota, Colombia, Nico has lived in many places around the United States, and is excited to be living again in his former home of Los Angeles. In his spare time, Nico enjoys running, learning new languages, and travelling the world with his partner.
