Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator, The Kentucky Administrative Office of The Courts
Patrick Carrington is the Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator for the Kentucky Administrative Office of the Courts. In his role he is tasked with creating initiatives that help foster a more inclusive environment, recruit diverse talent, and conduct trainings involving topics such as cultural awareness, implicit bias, and generational diversity within the workplace. Prior to this role, Patrick served as a lead program coordinator for the Kentucky Personnel Cabinet’s Office of Diversity, Equality, and Training. Patrick has over five years experience working within state government and serving the citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Patrick is originally from Birmingham, Alabama and initially relocated to Kentucky to attend the state's only Historically Black College and University, Kentucky State University. While on academic scholarship Patrick participated in a variety of extracurricular activities including the marching band and the student government association. During his time as a social work major, Patrick learned more about various cultures and populations. This exposure to the many communities around the world that are often mistreated and overlooked, caused him to seek out a way in which he could use his time to uplift and serve as an advocate for the disenfranchised. This sparked his interest in the field of diversity and inclusion and is a large part of why he is currently within the field today. Patrick presently resides in Kentucky’s beautiful capital of Frankfort. In his spare time, you will likely find him hiking, playing basketball, or reading a great book.
