Portia Burch is a Black queer activist and Omaha native, with a specific focus on anti-oppression. Portia was activated by the murder of Michael Brown, Jr. and the subsequent protests and riots in Ferguson, MO. As consciousness shifts towards reckoning with racism and white supremacy in the world, Portia is working to create a just and brave space in the training and development industry. Portia also has a focus on the after care of those that have been system impacted, as well as the fight for prison abolition. She believes that by addressing the systems of oppression that lead to incarceration, change can be made at the forefront. She works to amplify resources surrounding mental health care, safe and affordable housing, and employment assistance that are necessary solutions.
