Finance and Operations Associate, Vision First project of the New Venture Fund
Sara Morris recently relocated to the Capital Region from Boston MA, where she spent the past three years working on Senator Elizabeth Warren’s 2018 senate race, and then her Presidential primary campaign. Transitioning from field organizing and coalition building to operations project management gave Sara a unique perspective into the importance of community organizing as well as how to creatively solve internal systems inefficiencies and manage organizational growth with sensitivity and diligence. Creating processes and systems that focus on building effective and transparent team cultures for teams working towards justice is what Sara is passionate about, as her career began growing and supporting the activities of the Brockton’s Promise team coalition as an AmeriCorps member. After a year of AmeriCorps service, she transitioned to work for her alma mater, Stonehill College, to establish the Downtown Center for Community Engagement, which housed a nonprofit incubation space, and was directly connected to local business, and community based learning. Sara managed a city council race in Brockton before moving on to Senator Warren’s team, and sees herself most excited about focusing on local level races in the future. Sara is currently working on managing the operations and financing on a project of New Venture Fund focused on furthering reproductive healthcare access and awareness through digital campaigns and organizing across the country. Since moving to Schenectady, Sara is renovating a home, cooking through quarantine, and is looking to make connections in her new community, specifically with other local doulas, local political junkies, and activists.
