Project Coordinator at EAST Initiative, EAST Initiative
Sara Swisher is the Project Coordinator at the EAST Initiative, an educational nonprofit with over 263 programs in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. EAST’s mission is to provide all learners the opportunity to have relevant, individualized, life-changing educational experiences by equipping classrooms with technology so students can do service projects. Sara’s professional accomplishments in this role include executing two Million Women Mentors events for women in STEM in partnership with the Women’s Foundation of Arkansas, creating and funding the Education Unleashed Parent Support Program funded by the Walton Family Foundation, founding EAST’s affinity group Friends of EAST, executing professional development opportunities for teachers and students, and managing volunteers and stakeholders. Sara is a native of Memphis, Tennessee. She received her Bachelor’s in English from Christian Brothers University in 2016. Sara then served in AmeriCorps VISTA for a local nonprofit called Memphis Tilth whose mission is to cultivate collective action for an economically sustainable, socially equitable, and environmentally sound local food system. After her year of service, Sara moved to Little Rock, Arkansas to receive her Master’s of Public Service from the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service. During her time at the Clinton School of Public Service, she completed service projects at Wallace Center at Winrock International (Little Rock, AR), Awamaki (Ollantaytambo, Cusco, Peru), and EAST (Little Rock, AR). Sara’s professional goal is to use her skills in program development and management as well as fundraising to create a more equitable society. Sara lives in Little Rock, Arkansas with her Dachshund S’mores. She enjoys hanging out with her friends and family, eating delicious food, and watching new shows on Netflix and Hulu.
