Sheyda Brown
Program Associate, Charles & Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation
Sheyda Brown is a Program Associate at the Charles & Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, where she is working to advance justice and equity through grantmaking. As a trained community organizer, Sheyda understands that strengthening collective community voice is critical to shifting power dynamics within a community. Both in her work at the Foundation and in her organizing and activism work, she is finding ways to elevate marginal voices to reclaim their decision making and designing power. Previously, Sheyda worked as a community organizer with the Industrial Areas Foundation in Houston, TX engaging deeply in Hurricane disaster recovery advocacy. She has a master’s degree in social work and is a previous AmeriCorps member. She’s served at a variety of nonprofits across the state including Oklahoma Center for Community and Justice, Bridges Norman, Homeless Alliance OKC, Amplify Tulsa, and Leadership Tulsa. In her spare time, Sheyda loves spending time with her loving spouse Dillon and extremely active one-year old Jonah. You can find them on family walks or cooking a delicious meal at home. Sheyda loves watching stand-up comedy, especially BIPOC/LGTBQ+ comedians, and rarely misses an episode of Saturday Night Live. Sheyda and her family attend an Episcopal church.
