Director of Homeless Services, Tellurian
Skyler Van De Weerd currently serves as the Director of Homeless Services for Tellurian, a Madison-based organization that supports individuals struggling with mental health and substance use in their path to recovery. In this role, she is responsible for the leadership of Tellurian’s Homeless Services teams, namely community-based homeless outreach and Permanent Supportive Housing case management. Skyler is always working to utilize evidence-based practices and progressive values in supporting her team and innovating new ways to serve others. After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, Skyler began her career in social services. For nearly ten years, she has worked in community mental health providing direct services and leadership, including case management, crisis intervention, homeless outreach, program operations, team development, and service coordination. Skyler prides herself in bringing authenticity, compassion, and humor to her practice and firmly believes these traits are key-ingredients for building unique relationships with every individual. A persistent advocate for social justice, human rights, and equity, Skyler is committed to disrupting systems of oppression and being an agent of change within her community. She is also very attached to spending time with her two kitties, MollyJandro and Diego. Other hobbies include traveling, indulging in self-care, spending quality time with friends and family, and engaging with others in meaningful conversation.
