Symone Palmer is a St. Louis native with a passion for branding, design, and racial justice advocacy. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis in 2018, where she majored in marketing and minored in graphic design. She applies this educational background to her current work as the Digital Media Associate at ArchCity Defenders, where she collaborates with a team of lawyers, paralegals, social workers, and support staff to combat racial and economic injustice in poor and BIPOC communities. Beyond this role, Symone also applies her branding and design expertise to her freelance work. Her business, Designs By Monie, serves primarily Black entrepreneurs, small businesses, and community organizations by helping them develop authentic brand identities through compelling design and informed strategy. As a Fall 2020 BALSA Grant winner and Cohort member, she is currently enhancing her network and gaining additional business education in order to continue building her brand, For Black Creatives, which exists to inspire the creative spirit and motivate the next generation of Black creatives to make history. Symone believes in the power of creativity and her mission is to empower Black and minority youth to embrace their creative power as a means for creating change.
