Executive Director, College Visions
Tina Meetran is a proud First Generation Laotian and Vietnamese Woman born and raised in Providence, RI. She was raised by two strong, resilient, immigrant parents, who taught her the values of love, hard work, and education. These values continue to drive her in her aspirations today. After graduating from Classical High School, she attended Clark University where she received her bachelor’s in International Development and Social Change and her Master’s in Community Development and Planning. Through her personal experiences, community involvement, and liberal arts education, she has found purpose in being a community activist and a mentor for young people. She is devoted to empowering and supporting young people to think critically about their society, to challenge their world, and to live unapologetically in their skin. Currently, Tina works as the Executive Director at College Visions in Providence, RI, a non-profit organization in which she is an alumnus. She works to empower first-generation, low-income students to realize the promise of higher education by guiding them to and through college. Her dedication to this community has been apparent in her continuous work with College Visions, where she has been working towards its mission for the past 4 years. During this time she has also been involved with different organizations fighting for social justice including the Providence Youth Student Movement, the Southeast Asia Resource Action Center, the National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum, and more. Tina is also a watercolor artist who finds joy in playing with color and painting florals and plants. She dreams of opening her own art studio that showcases artists of color and provides a welcoming space for her community to create in love and solidarity.
