Finance manager, Kreyol Essence
Valerie Mondesir Alarcon is passionate about empowering others to dream big . As a first-generation Haitian American, minority and woman with a disability, she prides herself on being able to push past the odds. Because of her desire to pay it forward, she spent most of her life volunteering for various causes that empower others, such as Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers Big Sisters, performing pro bono accounting work for start-up non-profits, and many more. Since earning several degrees from Nova Southeastern, she worked as a finance professional in various capacities in the nonprofit and for-profit sectors, eventually earning her CPA license. In addition to serving as a Finance Manager for Kreyol Essence, she is also the owner of InsightFull Financials, an accounting services firm assisting both minority-owned for-profits and non-profits. She is particularly insistent on working with entrepreneurs to build sustainable and socially responsible businesses that elevate the communities they serve. After the frustration of seeing liberals contend with mislabeling of their initiatives and their challenges with maintaining political momentum, Valerie developed an interest in encouraging stronger unity within liberal and progressive groups.
