Candidate for BA, Eckerd College
Will Shedden is the current student government president at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL. There, he works to ensure that the student body is represented to the college administration, as well as connect the student body to the greater St. Pete community. Previously, Will worked as the student government vice president of financial affairs, chairing the financial affairs committee and allocating a $630,000 budget among over one hundred different clubs and organizations. Will has also worked intensively on environmental issues in the Tampa Bay area. As the Environment Florida representative to Suncoast Rise Above Plastics, he was key in lobbying St. Pete city council to pass an ordinance restricting the distribution of single use plastic straws. In 2018 as the co-lead of the New Voters Project at Eckerd College, he led a team that increased voter turnout over 350% from the 2014 midterm election at Eckerd College. He is currently on track to graduate with a degree in Political Science in 2021. In his spare time, Will enjoys watching his two favorite hometown teams, the Tampa Bay Rays and the Tampa Bay Lightning. On campus, you can find him reading up on new trends in urban development at the library or cooking up some Indian food in his dorm.
