Position
Senior Legislative Counsel, Unites States House of Representatives
Will Cunningham currently serves as Senior Legislative Counsel to the United States House of Representatives Oversight Committee. Prior to this role, he served as Chief Counsel to the House Oversight Subcommittee on Economic and Consumer Policy under the late Chairman Elijah Cummings. Before transitioning to work in the House, Will worked as a policy staffer for Senator Cory Booker. Will is a two-time Democratic congressional candidate for New Jersey's Second Congressional District. His most recent 2020 primary candidacy resulted in garnering the prestigious and coveted endorsement of The Philadelphia Inquirer, as well as The Collective PAC, the Victory Fund (for LGBTQ candidates), and Democracy for America, to name a few. Will ran as an unabashed progressive during his 2020 campaign, fighting for policies that he personally knew would meet his community’s needs. Will experienced homelessness for almost half his high school career but was able to gain acceptance into Brown University. After graduating from Brown in 2007, he immediately paid it forward by teaching in a low-income school district with Teach for America, before attending law school. He graduated from the University of Texas School of Law as Permanent Class President in 2012. He currently serves as Chief Advisor for new progressive PAC, Make Room, and serves as South Jersey Regional Director to the Progressive Democrats of New Jersey.
